Detroit & Bombers…

Hello again! Wow, lots happening and coming up in Chicago parts. It makes me happy to hear about fellow artists and friends coming into their own and continuing to make things happen!

The sequential art show was lovely and I was excited to see all the other comic art. It’s inspiring to see the many different ways to tell your story pictorally and sometimes with no words at all.

The first Pilsen coaster show was a success and everyone contributed such original pieces. It was fun to see what everyone came up with and the coaster trades among the artists was a hit! Here is one of my coasters. I made a set of monster kids on their picture day.

Pilsen Holiday Sale & Tianguis: Dec 11-12, 2010

Its holiday art sale time! All around the city you will find artists selling their works and wares this time of year. There was a nice and steady turn out for La Neta a couple of weekends ago. I saw some old friends and got to catch up with my girls Jessica & Thelma of El Stitch y Bitch. Some of the same artisans and many more will be at this weekend’s Pilsen Holiday Sale & Tianguis at Casa Juan Diego. Come out and start checking off your holiday gift list!

Other happenings since my last post…

There is a very special group of knitting & crocheting gals that I’m so happy to be a part of called El Stitch y Bitch http://elstitchybitch.wordpress.com/. Last Friday we attended the annual Day of the Dead exhibit at The National Museum of Mexican Art in Pilsen. We knitted and crochet an altar in memory of our crafty abuelas (grandmothers). I do not have pics at this time but please enjoy the pic below. Two of the members of El Stitch y Bitch taught a kids summer knitting class and this is one of the many beautiful yarn bombing installations at their closing show.

The Day of the Dead exhibit runs through December and you can visit the museum’s website for more information on the exhibit:

I took a little vacation to Cocoa Beach Florida with my sister in July. I was able to catch a show about the history of female surfers and left my footprint there…

Live painting alongside other artists at the Annual We Are Hip Hop Festival…
